Making Place

Become an innovative place-maker, discover hidden architectural gems and create a vision all of your own

MAKING PLACE is about exploring Blackburn town centre –  perhaps in ways you have never considered before. See the town centre in a different light as creative tours and films invite you into places the secret, hidden and restricted places of Blackburn.

The festival will animate forgotten spaces, breathing life into them by inviting audiences to interact, rediscover and reinterpret. Make a personal connection with a place, photograph and tweet your own images, views, reactions and feelings as you make new discoveries in Blackburn.

Maker-spaces are creative, do-it-yourself spaces where people gather to create, invent, and learn – come and engage in these unique maker environments designed and made by architecture and design students.

Write your own Blackburn headlines and help create a giant newspaper that tells your local stories about this place. Write a poem, tell a story, share a memory, sketch a picture!
