Making Tastes

Bringing festivalgoers together for the love of food. Lancashire say CHEESE!

Lancashire has a whole host of innovative food makers and local producers to shout about! We’re showcasing some of the best and most unusual – from British pies with Asian-inspired fillings to handmade multi-coloured marshmallows.

Who knew that Lancashire Black Pudding is a delicacy that dates back to Roman times? Will Lancashire’s pudding makers share their fiercely guarded secret recipes? Not keen on this Lancashire delicacy? Don’t worry there’s even a veggie version!

Experience the spirit of community and collaboration through food! Everyone is invited to sit together and eat in communal spaces, make new friends at the pizza oven, get digging at our Festival of Making allotment or get involved in our cooking sessions.

Taste and enjoy the pick of the crop from our fleet of street food traders; with hand-reared lamb dishes, polish kiebasa and hot puds to name but a few! A food-maker’s paradise!

In collaboration with the budding chefs at Blackburn College ‘The Town is the Menu’ will see Nigel Hayworth and Simon Preston attempt to encapsulate Blackburn on a plate – come and see if they pull it off! Northwest Curry masters will also be giving tips on serving up the very best homemade Masala, while celebrity judges are ready to taste-test the world’s best Lancashire Hotpot.
