As we begin preparations for the second season of The National Festival of Making’s headline art project – Art in Manufacturing – we’re pleased to be able to share with you the official film of the first season. Produced by Wash Design and funded by Creative Lancashire the film takes us into the hidden world of Pennine Lancashire’s manufacturers as the project’s artists get to grips with a world of strange shapes, bizarre colours, state-of-the-art machinery and workforces steeped in industrial heritage.

Each residency also features an individual video, which you can find over at our newly updated project pages. They’re really worth a look and include Lazerian’s Chromatogram, which recently appeared in the premier US design magazine Interior Design. Shown in the decaying grandeur of Blackburn’s Cotton Exchange, Liam Hopkins’ cardboard pods made the front cover.
