Film Screening followed by an In Conversation with Sima Gonsai and Uthra Rajgopal.

Award-winning Blackburn-born filmmaker Sima Gonsai returns home to present two acclaimed short films that explore how we connect with the world through our senses.
Through the immersive screen dance film Suspended Motion and the documentary Lost Harmonies, audiences are invited into stories shaped by touch, movement, sound and tradition. From deafblind dancers performing in sensory environments to artisans, farmers and animals in Kutch, India, connected by the healing melodies of the traditional Kharki bell, both films reveal the power of storytelling to uncover hidden ways of experiencing and understanding the world. Together, they demonstrate how cinema can bridge cultures, perspectives and lived experiences, revealing worlds that are often felt before they are seen.
Following the screening, Sima Gonsai will be joined by writer, curator and cultural producer Uthra Rajgopal for an in-depth conversation exploring the ideas, creative processes and themes behind the films.
Lost Harmonies was commissioned by Shrujan, Living and Learning Design Centre – a centre dedicated to the heritage and crafts of Kutch, Gujarat, India.
Suspended Motion was funded by Dance Hub and The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, led by Sense Arts.
