Head to Kitchen Tables where you’ll find Stockport Fungi who will be sharing their extensive knowledge and creativity around mushrooms!

On Saturday, Alex from Stockport Fungi will show you how to grow delicious oyster mushrooms from recycled and repurposed materials that you can mainly find in your own home. You’ll take away your own kit to watch your mushrooms grow.

On Sunday, get up close with different types of Fungi and draw what you see, guided by Alex to focus on the weird and wonderful detail.

This workshop will take place in Kitchen Tables, a space that celebrates our dining spaces as places of making.

About Stockport Fungi

Stockport Fungi was founded by Alex Williams back in 2022. Having spent 17 years as a puppet maker for stop motion animation working with Wes Anderson, Tim Burton and Guillermo Del Toro amongst others, she decided to follow her other passion: fungi and mushrooms. She rented a disused building in Stockport, built a farm and was soon supplying some of the most renowned restaurants in Manchester.

Wanting to share what she knew, Alex began running workshops for adults and children and has since gone on to work with organisations such as the National Trust, HOME Mcr, Eat Well Mcr and the Proud Trust, to name a few.
