Soul Stitched – Keep On Keeping On

Explore identity, community, and the legacy of Northern Soul through fabric design and badge-making.

Inspired by the bold style of traditional Northern Soul patches, participants will design and make contemporary textile pieces that reflect both personal and collective identity.

You’ll leave with a personalised piece of art and all the embroidery skills you’ll need to add a little northern soul flare to clothing and tote bags.

The workshop will last two hours and be led by Hoop & Fred.

About Keep On Keeping On

Northern Soul Productions is a UK theatre company celebrating the people, places, culture, and heritage of the North. This year we have been touring, Keep On Keepin’ On, a new Northern Soul infused play by Mick Martin which opened at St Paul’s Working Men’s Club in Blackburn in May 2025.

Hoop & Fred is the creative venture of Manchester-based embroidery artist Stephie (not Fred). Born in lockdown and stitched from a background in community arts, Hoop & Fred blends bold, nature-inspired design with a passion for wellbeing and accessibility. Stephie creates DIY kits, original art, and welcoming workshops to spark creativity in everyone.
