2024 Festival Dates: 6 & 7 July

The Making Rooms: FAB Lab

Your festival experience wouldn’t be complete without a visit to The Making Rooms. It’s a place where creativity, technology and advanced manufacturing come together in a community facility for use by businesses, artists, inventors, students, children and just about everyone else to design and make anything.

Have a go at many of the free activities and experience the machines in action and join the team in celebrating the launch of their new micro-labs.

A couple of things you can expect:

  • mould your own recycled cardboard and get planting in the Eco Lab
  • solder a light-up badge at the Repair Space
  • try your hand at textiles in Fabric Lab
  • recycle some plastic at Precious Plastic Blackburn

There’ll be loads more to do in the Fab Lab too:

  • lasercut a solar system necklace showing the position of the planets on the day you were born
  • command a robot to draw you a painting
  • and many more activities and things to see!

Whatever your interests, you’ll find something here for you all under one roof!

The Making Rooms is best experienced by children aged 7+, young people and adults alike.
