Join us for a screening of Mera Lyari, followed by a Q+A with Director Abu Aleeha.

Mera Lyrai is the story of two young women determined to pursue their football dreams. In the tough streets of Lyari, two girls chase an impossible dream. Guided by a one-legged former football captain, they train in secret for a shot at the Pakistan Football League. But claiming the pitch means confronting family, tradition and fear head-on.

Following its recent red carpet premiere at the BFI UK Asian Film Festival, Director Abu Aleeha will be travelling from Islamabad to share insights into his work, including details of his upcoming film set to be made in Blackburn and Pakistan. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the Q+A.

About Abu Aleeha

Abu Aleeha, also known as Ali Sajid Shah, is a filmmaker and screenwriter best known for his acclaimed movie Javed Iqbal. He began his career in crime and investigative reporting with prominent English and Urdu daily newspapers in Pakistan. His film Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer gained significant attention and sparked controversy.

He has several other films to his credit, including Kataksha, Dadal, Sheenogai, Tevar, Udham Patakh, Shotcut, Super Punjabi, and the buzzworthy Taxali Gate.
