Experience the calming art of Ebru marbling, a traditional Turkish practice where colours float and dance on water to create unique patterns.

Originating centuries ago in Ottoman culture, Ebru is as much fun to watch as it is to take part in. Visitors can enjoy live demonstrations, then try their own designs using natural pigments, brushes, combs, and styluses before transferring them onto paper. This hands-on activity celebrates creativity, culture, and wellbeing, offering a welcoming and supportive space for people of all abilities to explore and enjoy.

About Arts 2 Heal

Arts 2 Heal is a Blackburn-based charity committed to improving mental health and wellbeing through creativity. For over a decade, our team has delivered inclusive, culturally diverse arts programmes supporting individuals experiencing isolation, trauma, and barriers to traditional services.

For nearly 10 years, our artists and facilitators have shared the art of Ebru marbling at festivals and community events, engaging diverse audiences in this captivating and accessible practice. Rooted in heritage and mindfulness, Ebru reflects our ethos, creating safe, welcoming spaces where creativity nurtures healing, connection, and cultural understanding.

Founder of Arts 2 Heal, Banu Adam, first discovered Ebru in Istanbul and was inspired by its beauty and meditative qualities. Passionate about introducing this relatively unknown art form to the UK, she trained in Istanbul to learn traditional techniques. This experience continues to shape our work, bringing authentic, culturally rooted practices into community settings where Ebru is used as both an art form and a tool for wellbeing.
