2024 Festival Dates: 6 & 7 July

Volunteer

THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF MAKING IS A COMMUNITY INTEREST  COMPANY THAT DELIVERS CREATIVE PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND A LARGE-SCALE FESTIVAL ANNUALLY. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING TO WELCOME VOLUNTEERS WITH A KEEN INTEREST IN ALL THINGS “MAKING” TO SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMME.

It would not be possible to run the National Festival of Making’s yearly programme and annual festival without the support of our fantastic volunteers. Every single volunteer helps MAKE our programme by getting involved. From Information Helper to Workshop Assistant there are many roles to experience as part of our programme.

There are lots of benefits to volunteering, here are some of the big ones:

  • Have loads of fun and feel part of a team
  • Meet all kinds of new people
  • Give something back to the local area
  • Learn about making, crafts, art, technology and design
  • Get professional training in your role
  • Experience and confidence in the world of work
  • A rather chic t-shirt
  • A contribution towards your travel expenses
  • Learn about making, crafts, art, technology and design
  • Taking part in a national festival looks great on your CV
  • We’ll provide you with a sparkling reference in return for your time
  • You’ll be invited to a party to celebrate all your hard work and be presented with a certificate of appreciation

Each year we look for volunteers to help MAKE the National Festival of Making weekend.

In 2023 the festival weekend returned to Blackburn with over 50 exhibitions, performances, workshops, talks and markets across 24 locations in the town centre.

This year’s festival is now over but check back soon. When future volunteering opportunities come up we’ll post them here. You can also register your interest to be emailed for future volunteering opportunities.
