Nicola Fernandes known as Fernandes Makes is a Manchester-based artist, illustrator and maker, known for her playful, hands-on approach to art and her love of nature, quirky designs, and community projects.
Nicola’s artistic work knows no discipline as she explores her creativity with a very tactile approach. There are no limitations to her work as it takes life in the form of wood, ceramics, paintings, soft objects, murals and interactive art events designed to engage, motivate and inspire you no matter your level of artistic skills. She is often transforming everyday items into imaginative, character-filled creations that spark joy and invite participation.
Whether she’s painting wooden spoons, illustrating, or leading creative sessions, Nicola brings a sense of playfulness, inclusivity, and humour to everything she does. Through her community project Flock and Gaggle, she encourages people of all ages to explore their creativity with confidence, curiosity, and colour.
