Blackburn Machine Mega Drawing

Massive art time! The Making Rooms are giving their huge computer controlled router the weekend off from cutting through wood for a well deserve relaxing arty break. The machine (nicknamed Betty) will spend the festival weekend gently colouring an enormous car-sized image Blackburn. This hypnotic merging of movement and colour will be live-streamed throughout the weekend for everyone to come marvel at this incredible piece of technology.

 

Personalised Solar System Necklaces

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing next month, the team at The Making Rooms been hard at work creating a solar-system-necklace-making-machine! Come by their lab, type in your birthdate and you can take away with you a unique necklace showing where the planets were on the day you were born.

 

TECH BLACKBURN showcase

Come and see what TECH BLACKBURN accelerator delegates have created and learn more about the program. BwD council have given the go-ahead to start the next cohort so don’t miss this opportunity to turn your tech business dreams into a reality.

 

Build your own Creative Creature

Ever wanted to make your own cute robot or design the ultimate animal? The Making Rooms have laser cut a huge pile of different body parts in different colours, ready for you to design and experiment with. If you tweet them a photo of your critter and you could win a chance to make a huge version of your creation!

 

Make-A-Start Laser Jewellery workshop

Learn how to create and sell laser cut products, using laser cut jewellery as a basis for learning the craft. On top of the workshop itself The Making Roo will provide you with additional free laser cutter hire to practice your new craft.

 

Make-A-Start Personalised Clothing and Bags

Learn how to create and sell vinyl cut personalised clothing and bags. All materials will be provided, or if you’d like to personalise a specific item instead, bring it along and have a go!

 

 

The Making Rooms is a place where creativity, technology and advanced manufacturing come together in a community facility for use by businesses, artists, inventors, students, children and just about everyone else to design and make anything from high-tech products and gadgets to toys, artworks, home decorations and t-shirts.
