At Blackburn Youth Zone, enjoy a variety of creative and hands-on activities, including designing and laser cutting acrylic keyrings, sculpting and moulding clay creations, and contributing to the Doodle Café.
Build Circuit Butterflies by combining origami with mini LED lights and battery circuits. Or try your hand at pillow making, candle moulding, and constructing imaginative structures using cardboard.
For more interactive fun, there’s bubble wand engineering, followed by revealing hidden drawings using paint spray bottles, as well as a unique sword fighting experience designed to teach the basics of coding.
You can even get involved in a Lego competition!
Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone is a cutting-edge facility in the heart of Blackburn, open to young people aged 5 to 25. With a state-of-the-art space, it provides “Somewhere to go, something to do, and someone to talk to.” More than just a youth centre, it is a vibrant hub powered by young people’s voices, built on the principle of starting where young people are and going where they take us.
Open 7 days a week, the Youth Zone delivers up to 20 activities each evening across Blackburn and Darwen, ensuring there is something for everyone. As a true one-stop shop, no need or interest is left unmet.
Located where Blackburn’s first electricity station once stood, it now powers the community through young people’s energy and potential. Its four strategic pillars are Social Integration, Health and Wellbeing, Aspirations, and Skills and Employment.
