2024 Festival Dates: 6 & 7 July

Den Building

Making isn’t all about the final piece, the creative and building process is just as important as the outcome.

Get hands on in this workshop that will take over museum street – transforming the route to Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery into a making destination. For materials you’ll have bamboo, piping, recycled materials and reusable, eco-friendly zip-ties – use your making skills to transform these into standing structures, sculptural enclosures and fantastic dens.

Artist, educator and den-building expert Chris Harman is well experienced in using everyday, found objects and experimenting with sculpture. With over 15 years of experience Chris offers tailored workshops in the craft of den building, aiming to preserve the art of den building and providing opportunities to learn a broad range of skills, including teamwork, problem solving, mathematical skills and creativity.
