Join Rose and turn tiny houses into magical homes with kitbashing tricks, everyday junk, and crafty mini-makeovers!
During the introduction to the workshop, participants will learn about ‘kitbashing’ – a method of adapting ready made kits to suit your own needs, from simple small customisations to more structural changes. They’ll be able to see examples of miniature kits that have been adapted this way, and will learn about the various techniques involved in creating them. A lot of the techniques involve using items easily found at home – resourcefulness is a key part of miniature making!
Then participants will move on to trying these techniques out for themselves on a small blank wooden house. They will learn about how to make lollipop stick shingles, window frames from coffee stirrers, and stones from egg cartons. They’ll also cover various painting techniques to make stained wood effects, worn bricks and textured walls. Finally they’ll use various types of foliage to decorate the house exterior.
Participants will leave with a decorated miniature house and lots of ideas on how to continue creating their own tiny scenes at home.
